We did it again!
Bigger and Better!
Since the first day we let the Big Up One out in the streets, a lot has happened. Big Up hit the goal of subscribtions, received overwhelming positive response, put out three monthly podcast mixes, partnered up with WMC in Miami for 2009, and is about to become a registered trademark.
We can't stop, we won't stop! This time around we're bringing you the bigger and better Big Up TWO! And as the list of contributors grew by 300 percent and continues growing every day, we want to thank everyone of you for all you've done and continue doing for BIG UP. Special thank you goes out to David Choe for the wonderful cover image! Big Up!
BIG UP STORY
Big Up is an independent quarterly magazine about contemporary art, underground music, revolutionary people and street culture.
- We're bigging up art that stops, wows and provokes thoughts and actions
- We're biggin up music that empowers, enlightens and looks forward.
- We're bigging up people who act, inspire and start revolutions.
- And that is our culture.
Big Up (noun) origin - Jamaican 1980s. singular and plural.
1. An expression of support or encouragement.
2. An expression of remembrance.
Origin - "Up" is an English term used to mean elevation. Therefore the term
"Big Up" literally means to elevate highly or to a superlative degree.
